Fall is (almost) officially here, and before you know it, it will be time to gobble down some turkey! Our goal at Kelson Group is to provide apartments to help you live better. When we can, we also like to feature great ideas and close-to-home stores and shops to make your life a little more rich and ideally easier too!

We’ve put together a list of ideas for holiday entertaining that sources items locally and close to home at Peterson Landing!

Dress your Holiday Table

There’s nothing quite like a festive table when entertaining, but you don’t have to break the bank to make achieve a beautiful set up. Dollar stores often have great options for affordable and reusable seasonal décor, and another favourite place to go that’s a quick bus ride away is the Kamloops Farmers’ Market. Drop by on a Wednesday or Saturday morning to pick up locally grown gourds, flowers, and beautiful seasonal greenery.

Buy Local Produce

While you’re getting table décor at the Farmers’ Market, stock up on locally-grown produce too! There are many organic options offered at reasonable prices. Local produce can also be found at the Farmers’ Market, Nature’s Fare, and Gourmet Greens. Many of the larger-chain grocery stores also carry regional produce options.

Gobble it up!

If turkey is traditionally a part of your Thanksgiving dinner, consider pre-ordering a locally raised turkey. The Thompson River University Meat Store, the Chop ‘N Block, and Nature’s Fare offer this easy option as do many other smaller producers including Copper Mountain Farms and Sullindeo Estates.

Wash it down!

From kombucha to beer, and wine to cider, there are endless options for cleansing your palette with locally made refreshments. Most of these options can be found at the Farmers’ Market or neighbourhood grocery stores. If you’re looking to add to your seasonal experience, consider visiting a local purveyor to try some samples and find your new holiday favourite!

When celebrating the bounty of the fall season and the change that’s in the air, we hope you are able to enjoy some of these seasonal suggestions to make your entertaining better!
